Save The Date: Neighborhood Earth Day Clean Up (tentatively) May 3rd 2025
The City of Madison facilitates a wonderful Earth Day Challenge of their many Parks every year. For more information see Here. Our own two parks and roadsides are not included in their yearly selected sites but they will coordinate with us for our own independent clean up effort by providing materials and tools. My apologies that I haven’t had time quite yet to confirm all the details but save the date for May 3rd around 10 am to come out with your neighbors and clean up trash and undesirable brush within Harvey Schmidt and Fraust Parks and along the roadsides of Carver and Martin Streets. We will meet by the “Big Climbing Rock” in Harvey Schmidt Park as in year’s past. The city will have a release waiver for all volunteers to sign. I will send that out in an upcoming email. (Rain date May 4th)

There are virtual and in person attendance options. More information can be found Here and on the Project Website.
Spring Election Results
In case you haven’t heard yet, Tag Evers was re elected as our neighborhood’s alderperson as part of District 13. Tag has been a wonderful representative for our area and is always quick to respond to constituent concerns. As a reminder he can be reached at district13@cityofmadison.com and followed on his blog:

Lake Forest Water Co op Updates
*as a reminder the ANA Board is a separate entity from the Lake Forest Water Co op Board. We have no bearing in the administration of the Lake Forest Water Co op.
*Lake Forest Water Co op matters pertain to the Lake Forest region of our neighborhood and not to Forest Park. Refer to this map on the ANA website for clarification.
Several neighbors have asked about the recent survey crews along Martin St. and the bore holes recently drilled into the streets throughout Lake Forest. This work is being ordered by the Madison Water Utility (MWU). As many of you know the Lake Forest Water Co op is proposing to change the Lake Forest water source from the two currently used wells to the MWU. Part of the exploration of this proposal is pursuing possible funding through the State DNR Safe Drinking Water Loan Program. The MWU agreed to enter the “intent to apply” application on the Co op’s behalf (as the Co op was not eligible) on Oct. 31, 2024 according to pre set deadlines. By mid June 2025 the MWU and Co op will be notified if they have been approved to proceed with the actual application for the loan, which will need to be sent in by June 30th, 2025. Part of the requirements of this loan application is that the MWU must submit preliminary engineering plans to the DNR. The work you are seeing done in the neighborhood is related to the development of these preliminary engineering plans. It is NOT evidence that any official change is moving forward. It is understood that the Co op membership is still in the process of voting on if the proposal itself should proceed.
And speaking of the “proposal”…a reminder that the Lake Forest Water Co operative membership is being asked to cast their vote again on whether to proceed. Property owners ONLY are considered voting members. Property owners should have received a ballot in the mail last week that needs to be returned by APRIL 11th. If you did not receive this mailing please reach out the Water Co op Board at gdavis@wisc.edu. Another reminder that for the most accurate details about the many layers of this issue PLEASE refer to the Water Co op’s website and refrain from hearsay. Any questions that you may have that remain unanswered by the many facts shared on their site should be directed to the Water Co op Board.
